Okay, here we go. So, like, ever sit down to game and all of a sudden it’s dark outside and you’re wondering where the day went? Yeah, it’s like time warps on weekends or something. Anyway, if you’re into open-world games––I mean, who isn’t, right?––there’s a bunch of them that you can just sink into until you lose track of hours, or accidentally forget to eat lunch. Oops.
So, remember back when Grand Theft Auto 3 just blew everyone’s minds? Like, "Whoa, whole city to mess around in!" Now, those games are pretty much everywhere and they’ve gotten weirdly better, if that’s a thing. Speaking of which, I’ve got this list, just some picks for your weekend binge. Probably should’ve grabbed a pen… oh well.
Ghost of Tsushima – Crazy, right? It’s already five years old! But, no joke, it looks as amazing today as it did launch day. If you’ve never played it, or you only have a hazy memory of clearing out Mongol camps to the sound of wind chimes, now’s the time to jump back in. Especially with that Director’s Cut… And hmm, something about a new one, Ghost of Yotei, dropping soon? Gosh, where’s my calendar?
Days Gone Remastered – Now, this one, survival mechanics up the wazoo! It’s like they took your regular sandbox and threw in some way-too-intense moments that make you question why you were ever interested in zombie bears. And since they ironed out some kinks with recent updates, the game’s smoother than my first attempts at skateboarding––which, side note, were not smooth at all.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – Talk about immersion! I once spent a whole afternoon just wandering around listening to NPCs. Does that make me strange? Maybe. But it was worth it! They’ve got this tiny map that somehow feels like a vast universe. And don’t even get me started on the DLCs coming out. Time seriously well spent.
Cyberpunk 2077 – Remember the launch drama? Well, I peeked back. It’s like that one awkward cousin who turned cool over summer break. Updates, expansions, the works… and now, it’s this wild RPG ride that almost (almost) makes me feel stylish in real life too.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows – If you’ve been itching for some old-school AC vibes, I guess this one’s your jam. It ditches all the filler stuff and gives you pure sneaky-sneaky action. I swear I saw it on sale last time I checked, and I was like, “Whoa, discount ninja time!”
So yeah, if your idea of a good time is getting lost in pixels, there’s your list. Or just do what I do and let the games choose you. See you on the other side!
