Oh man, so here’s the scoop that’s buzzing around – The Pokémon Company is dishing out something new for the Trading Card Game Pocket. We’re talking about the “Wisdom of Sea and Sky” expansion landing next week. Or maybe it’s a week after; I always get my dates tangled. But mark it if you’re into it: Wednesday, 30 July 2025. Yep, that soon.
What’s the big deal? Well, it’s like a nostalgia hit. You’ll bump into Pokémon from the Johto region – you know, from the Gold and Silver days. Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile… those old buddies. And let’s not forget the legends, Lugia and Ho-Oh. I mean, those names still kinda tingle from the past vibes.
Anyway, this expansion is introducing a twist – Pokémon that don’t even need Energy to attack. Yeah, sounds like they’re shaking up the deck-building game here. I can’t tell if it’ll be chaotic or genius. Probably both.
Oh, and there’s some jazz happening with the Trade feature. Random thought: If life had a wishlist, I’d probably misuse it entirely. But now you can share which cards you’re hunting for during trades. There’s space for like 20 cards on the wishlist. Highlight three though if you want them to stand out. Why three? Who knows, keeps things spicy I guess.
Trade tokens are saying goodbye. But wait, don’t sigh yet. Shinedust is the new currency for trading rare cards. It kinda sounds like fairy magic, doesn’t it? You get this stuff by doing missions or if you’ve got duplicate cards lying around. As if we didn’t have enough things to keep track of in games.
Oh, nearly forgot – after the update kickstarts on 30 July at 01:00 UTC, you won’t be able to swap your cards for trade tokens. So, if you’ve got those, time to hit the exchange, my friend. They’ll trade for pack hourglasses and shinedust. Just another reason to love and hate deadlines.
And, in case you live under a rock, Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is on both the App Store and Google Play. Android or iOS, doesn’t matter, you’re covered.
It’s messy. It’s nostalgic. And it might just be the shake-up we didn’t know we needed. Or maybe not. Who knows!
