In mid-April 2025, Techland rolled out an exciting update for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, identified as version 1.22. This patch has brought a treasure trove of new features, such as freshly minted weapons, refined user experience layouts, and enhancements to multiplayer gameplay.

February 4 marked the three-year milestone since the release of Dying Light 2: Stay Human. Polish gaming company Techland has consistently been nurturing this open-world RPG with updates to keep players engaged and thrilled.

Continuing their tradition, Techland unveiled this new update, 1.22, that introduces co-op and UX enhancements, alongside a deluge of fresh content. Fans of the game can rejoice with the return of the Tower Raid mode, now boasting 27 new weapons, including three unique Elemental Pistols. These additions aren’t just mere trinkets; they possess special traits that can significantly shift playstyles and strategies, thus pushing players to innovate. Even the Tower Raid prizes have been refreshed, including tempting exclusive cosmetics and items, such as the snazzy Breach outfit.

Furthermore, Techland has aimed to streamline the game’s UX to make it easier for players to claim their Tower Raid rewards at their own pace. Thanks to these refinements, players can now conveniently collect unlocked items without a hitch. This update also introduces minor HUD modifications to ensure players are promptly informed when they earn new accolades.

The mid-April patch has also fine-tuned Dying Light 2’s cooperative play by ironing out bugs and synchronization-related enemy behavior issues, enhancing the flow of multiplayer interactions. Important HUD updates have been made to enhance clarity and provide a flawless visual experience. On top of that, the developer tools now host a new visual mods tool, offering players on PC the chance to creatively customize the look and feel of environments, weapons, and attire. Console players waiting eagerly for this feature will be pleased to know that there’s a plan to bring this tool to them in the future.

Update 1.22 marks the commencement of Techland’s ambitious roadmap for 2025. Fans can look forward to a grand summer event celebrating a decade of the Dying Light series, a spooky Halloween treat, and a major fall update expected to parallel the significance of 1.22. The year will culminate with another enchanting Dying Light 2 Winter Tales event.

Dying Light 2 Update 1.22 Patch Highlights

Tower Raid – New Weapons and Rewards

The latest update enriches the arsenal with 27 additional weapons, including 24 Elemental Weapons and three highly requested Elemental Pistols. Each new addition encourages players to adopt new gameplay strategies and adjust their styles. Alongside this enhancement, the updated rewards entice players with exclusive skins and items, including the sought-after Breach outfit, inspired by the original Tower Raid skins.

The update has also introduced several UX improvements to make sure the reward system is as efficient as possible. Players now have the luxury of claiming their achievements at their own convenience, making it impossible to miss out on any goodies. In addition, clearer communication on the HUD ensures that players are always aware of their progress and accolades.

Co-op Improvements

Jump into a refined multiplayer experience with the Spring Update. Several enemy behavior issues that had arisen from desynchronized gameplay have been addressed, ensuring smoother experiences and fewer discrepancies like teleporting enemies. The HUD has been given a significant improvement too, offering better visual cues and streamlined access to vital information, which enriches the multiplayer experience.

Techland isn’t resting on their laurels, though. The evolution of the cooperative play feature will remain a priority for ongoing improvements.

Visual Mods Tool

Have you ever wished to paint Villedor in your preferred hues or give it a different vibe? Enter the new visual mods tool for Dying Light 2 Developer Tools, available currently on PC. This empowers players to personalize the game’s textures across environments, weapons, and even attire, fostering a whole new level of creativity. Console players, fear not, as Techland is working hard to extend this feature to you as well.

Game Updates

Beyond the major features of Update 1.22, here are additional fixes and refinements:

Co-op:

  • Resolved the teleporting GRE Aberration issue.
  • Fixed teleporting Volatiles in varying altitudes glitch.
  • Corrected issues with the van conversation in The Breakthrough quest.

Tower Raid:

  • Solved Biter teleport issues.
  • Fixed Tower Raid achievements tracking wrong damage types.
  • Resolved sliding glitch on sloped surfaces and wardrobe synch issues in co-op.

Gameplay:

  • Fixed audio glitches with ranged weapons.
  • Corrected ragdoll glitches during ground strikes.
  • Ensured enemy synchronization during finishers.

Technical:

  • Addressed visual and audio anomalies and crashes.
  • Fixed haptic feedback issue on PS5.
  • Resolved graphical and animation inconsistencies.

Each update serves as a testament to Techland’s commitment to enriching the Dying Light 2 experience, making the game better and more immersive with each iteration.
