Oh man, August 15th — just another holiday in Italy, right? Well, maybe, but it’s got a bit more spark for me. It’s like the anniversary of my little corner of the internet where I jabber about VR stuff. Started this rollercoaster on August 15th, 2016, thanks to a nudge from some entrepreneur guy, Tommaso Di Bartolo. I kicked off with writing that was, I’ll be blunt, pretty cringe-worthy. Fast forward nine years — wait, wow, has it really been nine? Anyway, here we are!
Honestly, looking back, running a blog ain’t a walk in the park. Especially when you’re into something niche like VR. It’s like throwing words into a financial black hole sometimes. I’m not gonna lie, I’ve flirted with the idea of ditching it all. But then, you guys — yes, YOU! — kept showering me with love and virtual hugs, and that’s been my lifeline. People have told me how my random scribbles helped them get investments or dive into Unity for XR, and stuff like that makes it feel worthwhile. Funny how a bunch of pixels and typed-out thoughts can make ripples.
Massive shoutout to all of you! The coolest thing about this blog gig (side hustle, really, ’cause I’m an XR dev/entrepreneur by day) is chatting with you awesome people. Travelled a lot these past years, shaking hands with the community legends — and yeah, those real-life convos? Gold. Pure gold.
So, each blog birthday, I kinda feel like throwing a party but with words… or special content, whatever you wanna call it! This year’s treat? Got an interview with “The Reverend” Kyle Riesenbeck, yeah, the big cheese at Upload VR. Admired this guy since I waded into the XR pool, so naturally, I jumped at the idea of grilling him for a bit. And yep, he indulged me with 50 minutes chatting about VR like it was storytime. The full chat drops later because, you know, August means everyone’s too busy sunbathing to read or something. But hey, I’ve got a sneaky snippet for you — a throwback to the ‘good old days’ of VR.
Watch the clip below if you wanna dive into Kyle’s nostalgia lane.
Swanky, right? Seriously can’t bottle up my excitement! Nine years in, and I’m still here, geeking out about VR. Thanks a bazillion times over for being on this ride with me. Also, about the cake… someone please bring one? But keep that durian stuff outta here, okay?
