You know, there’s something kinda funny about Beat Saber that sticks with me. Maybe it’s the way I, uh, nearly knocked over a lamp playing it once? Anyway, here’s the deal. Meta (yep, Facebook’s cousin or whatever) said Beat Saber’s getting the cold shoulder on PSVR and PSVR 2—no more updates, nada, starting now. Multiplayer? That’s sticking around till, oh, early next year, but then poof.
Seriously, in this post I saw—was it on X? Or Twitter?—they said the PS4/PS5 versions are done-zo with updates. So, Beat Games is eyeing some big leap. Maybe to Mars or something? Who knows. Still, if you’re on PSVR, you can keep playing, no worries there! All your old DLCs are safe and sound.
Oh, there was a cutoff date—June 18th? Yeah, no new songs or whatever after that. But you can still snag the Lady Gaga track, "Abracadabra"—June 5th release. Last call before the music stops, I guess.
Now, about that multiplayer thing… End of the line for PS4/PS5 on January 21st, 2026. Can someone remind me why I never got the cross-play memo for PlayStation? Everyone else seems to be having fun.
Meanwhile, Quest users? They’re living it up with new tunes, no sweat. Steam folks too—they’re not getting left behind. Seems like the only one in the corner is PlayStation. It’s kinda like high school all over again.
Meta’s not really into sharing their toys with PlayStation, huh? But they’ve let them play in the sandbox since 2018. Now, it feels like it’s game over for this team. Sony’s kinda been snoozing on big exclusives for PSVR 2 anyway—they’ve been dilly-dallying while developers are like, “Nah, let’s focus on the big kids, aka Quest and SteamVR.”
And get this—Sony’s all about mixing things up now. You know, using PSVR 2 gear with PC VR games, and soon, Apple stuff? Wild, right? Total about-face from their usual. What do you even call that? A brand twist? Whatever it is, it’s a lot to wrap my head around.
