Y’know, sometimes tech just sneaks up on you, right? So, Meta—yeah, those guys—they just tossed out these shiny new smart glasses called Oakley Meta HSTN. But here’s where it gets juicier. Some person, let’s call ’em Luna (don’t ask me why, just feels right), dug up images of what Meta’s cooking next. And guess what? This one’s gonna have, like, a screen in it and some fancy wrist gizmo.
You might’ve heard it from that Bloomberg guy, Mark Gurman, back in January. He said Meta’s in on two new glasses plays. The sporty one’s with Oakley—old news now—but there’s this snazzier pair too, codenamed ‘Hypernova’. Sounds like something out of a sci-fi flick, doesn’t it? Anyway, it’ll have a display plus gesture controls with some techy wristband called an EMG controller. I know, geeky stuff, but interesting, right?
And it’s rumored to drop this year, between $1,000 and $1,400. Luna’s leaks are making it look like Meta might be almost ready to go live. Feels like the final countdown, doesn’t it?
So, scrolling through X (or whatever platform name they’re rolling with these days), Luna spilled some pics and vids. The glasses, supposedly called Meta Hypernova, and this wristband controller—codenamed Ceres. Why Ceres? Beats me.
Dug up from Meta’s latest firmware, these glasses might go by ‘Meta Celeste’. Funky name, huh? If that sticks, Meta might be doing this solo gig, no collabing like with Ray-Ban or Oakley. And as far as I can tell, ‘Celeste’ ain’t from any eyewear brand hanging around France or Italy.
And there’s more. The controller uses EMG tech to pick up on gestures like a thumb-index pinch. Nothing like voice controls, this is next level. Anyway, the latest version follows from their earlier prototype, Meta’s Orion AR, it seems.
Among Luna’s treasure trove, they found videos and snippets from the device’s tutorial. Little whispers like, “Control your glasses with your hands! Magic, right?” Such a trip.
Oh, almost forgot—one of Luna’s finds includes a mini-game called ‘Hypertrail’. Think it’s got Galaga vibes but somehow uses where you are, physically. Weird but kinda cool.
So, yes, Luna’s on a roll digging up more goodies on Hypernova and Ceres. I’ll have to hit refresh on this saga, but man, what a time for tech, huh?
