DICE and Goodbye Kansas Veteran Loving Appointed Head of LEGO Game Division

So, picture this: Fredrik Loving, who’s been around the block more times than your grandma’s favorite footpath, just jumped ship to become the big cheese at LEGO’s gaming world. I stumbled across his announcement on LinkedIn — yes, I still use it, and no, I don’t know why either. Anyway, he’s now SVP and honcho of LEGO Game.

Loving hopped over from Spin Master. He was steering the ship there for a good five-and-a-half years. Before that, he was in the trenches with Rovio and DICE, probably knee-deep in pixel warfare with Battlefield. Seems like 2017 was a wild year for him. He went off and started this cool narrative thing called Goodbye Kansas. Left it after two years though. Typical, right?

He penned this whole gratitude note about leaving Spin Master. From what I remember, he was raving about how awesome those folks were. Can’t blame him, really. Then he got all gushy about joining LEGO. Said he loves the brand. Who doesn’t have a soft spot for those little colored bricks, right? Childhood and whatnot.

Oh, here’s a twist: LEGO’s pulling its video games back under its own roof. Guess they got tired of all that licensing they’ve been doing, especially after that hefty dive into gaming way back in the 90s. Talk about bringing it full circle.
