So, here’s the thing. Bigscreen’s rolling out this new version of their VR headset—specifically for VRChat fans. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like they’re trying to say, “Hey, VRChat people, we see you.” Anyway, it’s called the Beyond 2e VRChat Edition. Pretty cool name, right?
Now, quick side note—last month, Bigscreen started shipping the Beyond 2—two versions of it, actually. One regular, the other with eye-tracking, tagged as Beyond 2e. Oh, and now they’re saying the VRChat twist on this Beyond 2e will hit the shelves (or your living room) in September 2025. Fingers crossed they stick to that timeline.
Spec-wise, it’s not too different from the standard 2e. You got your eye-tracking gadgets, those sharp 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED screens. And, oh, 116° field of view! Thanks to these cool pancake lenses, by the way. And it’s light—like, 107g light. That’s almost mind-blowing if you ask me.
Okay, now for the fun part. For $1,269—just $50 over the normal deal—you’re getting this VRChat Edition. And it’s not just the same old thing. Think translucent Atomic Purple (remember the Game Boy Color days?), plus hand-drawn artwork on the box. Not too shabby.
Oh! Don’t forget—if you wanna use any of these headsets, you need a VR-ready PC. And SteamVR gear, controllers, maybe some trackers too for the full experience. Just make sure your PC’s up for the challenge.
What’s in it for pre-order folks? Exclusive VRChat digital goodies—stickers, badges… more stuff is coming too, Bigscreen promises. They have these so-called “rare giveaway drops” in mind.
Now, people who’ve already ordered the standard one can talk to support ([email protected]) to switch to this shiny new edition if they’re up for it.
And while you’re waiting, you might want to check this convo between Bigscreen’s founder, Darshan Shankar, and VRChat’s Community Head, Tupper. They dive into everything—from why eye-tracking matters to the latest headset upgrades. Kinda nerdy, kinda cool.
That’s all for now. Whether you’re a VRChat fanatic or just tech-curious, this could be something to watch out for.
