Ah, Choice of Life: Wild Islands. So, there I was, just minding my own business, diving deep into what I thought would be a simple card game experience. But no. It’s like, bam! First thing, you’re this sailor dude, just chillin’ when — surprise! — storm hits outta nowhere. Ship’s in pieces, crew? Gone. Just you, some random sailor, needing to figure out how to not end up fish food.
Honestly, I kinda dig the decisions. Do you become like, a survival beast? Or just, well, sit there and watch nature take its course? And, oh man, the titles. More than 180 of them! It’s like Pokémon, but with life’s weird choices. And the branching paths? Over 300! I didn’t even count, just going by feels.
Anyway, so when you start the game, you’re suddenly faced with this first decision. Do something productive (like swabbing) or just, I dunno, daydream? The game keeps you on your toes. I talked back to the Captain once. Yeah, got a smack in return. Lesson learned, sorta. Mess up too much, and you’re toast. And not the delicious kind.
Oh, and navigating? Super chill. Just flick that left stick or tap the D-pad to pick your destiny. It’s still easy to get sidetracked. I mean, you pick a card, and your whole path shifts — no going back unless you start over. Messed me up at first, but hey, at least it tells you what you’ve already picked.
Trophies? It’s like a mini quest within a quest. You got your basic Bronze, Silver, and Gold to collect. Getting that Platinum? Ha! Now there’s a real challenge. Gotta explore all those endings, like some kinda existential detective.
Did I mention it’s out on PS5? Yeah, pretty sure I did. Might have forgotten in all this chaos of thoughts. It crept into my mind, then slipped out. Typical.
Before I forget, kudos to Upscale Studio for hooking me up with this PS5 copy. Can’t say no to that!
