Okay, here goes nothing—brace yourself for a wild ride.

Hey, gotta admit something here. Never played Bravely Default on the 3DS. Yeah, I know, how did I even miss it? Everyone raved about it, comparing it to Final Fantasy. Anyway, I stumbled upon the Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster demo at PAX East 2025. Square Enix just tossed it at us like, “Surprise!” Guess I’m looking at this from fresh, ignorant eyes, which might be a good thing. Or maybe not. Who knows.
So, they’re doing this HD thing now, right? No more dual screens like before. They’re vamping up the graphics to make them super HD. Uh, there’s also this new UI that’s, well, a thing. Super shiny. Asked the Square Enix folks about doing this with Bravely Second: End Layer too. She just nods, kinda gives me this mysterious “maybe” look. So, I might have planted that seed? Or maybe not. Let’s pretend I did—it’s a nice thought.
Now, about playing it. Man, you’re on a clock during those demos. Timed playthroughs are a nightmare for RPGs. I skipped dialogue like I was speed reading a phone book. But hey, got my hands dirty with the combat. It’s bonkers. Brave or Default—you gotta pick. Brave’s like going full Rambo, multiple strikes, but you’re defenseless after. Default’s a chill button, lets you save a move for later. Kinda like saving dessert for last. I went nuts, mashed the Brave button, consequences be damned. Combat’s all about mixing these up—strategy with flair.
Didn’t dive deep into the job system, which sounds pretty funky. But yeah, the game’s looking solid. Okay, kicking myself for not trying it on 3DS, but who cares now? It’s coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, same as the console launch. Don’t miss it, unless you wanna regret like I did.
