Sure, here’s a rewritten version:
Man, let me tell you, if you’re into Resident Evil, these past weeks have been something else. Like, seriously — Capcom just revealed Resident Evil Requiem at Summer Game Fest and yep, we’re heading back to Raccoon City. It’s like a mixed bag of horror nostalgia. Oh! And they just gave us another peek the other day at Capcom’s Showcase. They introduced this new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, and yeah, it’s looking intense.
But — and here’s the kicker — not everything’s all smiles for Resident Evil lately. On June 30th, Capcom pulled the plug on the online servers for a certain game. Not exactly the crown jewel of the series, but still, it kinda stings. Here’s the silver lining, though — could be it’s a blessing in disguise. Or maybe not. Who knows.
So yeah… Resident Evil Re:Verse went poof. Originally, it came bundled with Resident Evil Village, but they delayed it, like, forever — over a year! Long story short, it was this third-person shooter thing where you’d play as iconic characters battling it out. The weird (maybe cool?) part was, when ya got knocked down, you’d re-spawn as one of those freaky bioweapons.
Critics? Oh boy, they weren’t too kind. Floaty shooting, unbalanced characters, hardly any modes. It was a bit of a hot mess and folks weren’t shy about saying so. Yet, somehow, it held on for dear life for almost three years! But yeah, as of June 30th, 1:59 AM CT, it’s game over for Re:Verse. Donezo.
And yet, with every ending, there’s a kinda beginning, right? Capcom hinted Re:Verse did what it needed to – celebrating the series’ 25th anniversary. Now it’s like they’re ready for a new chapter. Resident Evil Requiem is all about going big and bold in a new direction. Which honestly, could be either exciting or terrifying. But hey, it’s Resident Evil. Go big or go home, right?
Maybe Requiem will have its own multiplayer schtick? Something more polished – less Re:Verse, more, I dunno, psychological spooky stuff. Picture this: a four-player co-op horror survival thing? Sounds intense. Or, they could just remaster those old PS2 Outbreak games where players team up to escape Raccoon City. So many directions, it almost boggles the mind.
And out of nowhere — here’s a wild idea — what about a multiplayer Mercenaries mode? There were versions in Resident Evil Village and the recent RE4 remake, but imagine teaming up since, like, 2011’s Mercenaries 3D. Just a thought. Anyway… who knows what’s next? Only time will tell.
