Call of Duty Introduces Cross-Play Disable Feature in Black Ops 6 and Warzone Ranked Mode

Great news is on the horizon for competitive console Call of Duty enthusiasts! Treyarch has announced an exciting update for those diving into Ranked play in both Black Ops 6 and Warzone. Soon, players will be able to deactivate cross-play, allowing them to engage strictly with fellow console players and steer clear of most PC-based cheaters and hackers—a welcome change for many.

Cross-play Toggle Coming to Season 02 for Black Ops 6 and Warzone Ranked

Set to roll out during Season 02, starting January 28, Treyarch plans to give console gamers the ability to turn off cross-play in both Black Ops 6 and Warzone’s Ranked modes. This move comes after player feedback called for more control over cross-play settings since the feature first launched in November. "In our efforts to enhance the gameplay experience, we’ve decided to revisit our conventional handling of cross-play," Treyarch noted in a recent blog post. "With Season 02, console players will now have the option to disable cross-play, facing off exclusively against other console gamers."

The rising number of hackers and cheaters in Ranked play, predominantly from the PC side, has been a significant concern for the Call of Duty community. For console players eager for fair competition, the ability to opt out of cross-play is undoubtedly a step in the right direction. However, this change might lead to more extended waiting times to fill multiplayer lobbies.

Treyarch has confirmed that this feature is currently undergoing testing and is "intended to go live for both Black Ops 6 Ranked Play and Warzone Ranked Play during S02." Unfortunately, for those interested in standard multiplayer, the cross-play toggle won’t be making its way there just yet. The developers assure fans they’ll be "closely monitoring the results and considering further adjustments to ensure the ecosystem’s integrity is maintained."
