Alright, so I’m sitting here, reminiscing about one game that’s just stuck in my head for ages. It’s this blast-from-the-past title that originally kicked off on the Nintendo 3DS back in 2012. And, yeah, I know, it sounds weird to be so, well, excited for something old, especially with all the sparkly new stuff the Switch 2 is dragging in. But here I am, eagerly waiting to dive into… Bravely Default. No joke.
Back when it popped over to the U.S. in 2014, Pure Nintendo went nuts for it. I remember reading this piece by Thomas Jones — guy seriously gave it a 10/10. He said something about it being this mix of the old Final Fantasy love with just enough new twists. Like, the visuals were on point, sounds were just, well, a vibe, and the characters? Super colorful. I kinda live for characters like that. Obviously, addicts like me loved the gameplay too because, why not?
Fast forward, the eShop closed for 3DS, making it, how should I put it… a pain to play. Plus, let’s not forget the whole StreetPass drama — something about it being essential? Yeah, whatever. Now, enter stage left: the HD Remaster. They tossed in these quirky mini-games like Luxencheer Rhythm Catch and Ringabel’s Panic Cruise. Apparently, they leverage the Joy-Con’s mouse moves. Fancy, right?
Oh, sidetracked! The visuals! Ugh, those 3D settings were eye candy on the 3DS. Some say the remastered stuff looks promising. I haven’t decided if I agree yet, but hey, if they pull it off, I’m sold.
And can’t skip the job-based battles! Costume changes! Right up my alley. Who doesn’t love a good dress-up battle system?
Honestly, this remaster is like a golden ticket for all who, I dunno, just missed out before. Or, folks like me who are totally up for another round. Anyway, if you care about stories and that brave/default thingamajig? Square Enix has the scoop on their site.
Pre-orders? Nintendo eShop has ’em for $39.99 a pop. Oh, and mark the calendar — June 5th is when it all kicks off. Switch 2 and this beauty together. Can’t wait. Seriously.
