Acer has just expanded its lineup with six fresh models of the Radeon RX 9070 series graphics cards, giving gamers more options with base and OC models that can crank the boost clocks up to an impressive 3.1 GHz.
In an exciting move, Acer has revealed its latest BiFrost and Nitro editions of the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070, with a particular highlight being the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC edition, which comes with an eye-popping price tag of $829.
Known as a reliable partner for AMD, Acer has stepped up to launch these RDNA 4 GPUs. Although Acer typically isn’t as prolific in AMD’s circle of partners, they’re making waves with these six new models, providing three variations for each GPU.
This fresh lineup includes two Nitro editions corresponding to the Radeon RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070 and also features a BiFrost edition for each. While the BiFrost editions highlight Acer’s best in design and cooling innovation, the Nitro variants cater to the mainstream gamer, boasting solid specs.
Let’s dive into the BiFrost editions first. The Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB is all about style and cooling efficiency, equipped with a sleek triple-fan setup and striking silver accents around the center fan. These come with FrostBlade 4.0 ringed fans featuring a counter-spin design that helps in optimal heat management. The card stretches to about 295 mm and has a thickness of 2.5 slots. Overclocked straight from the factory up to 3.1 GHz, this BiFrost model promises an exceptional gaming performance.
In a similar design vein, the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB also delivers, though it opts for two 8-pin power connectors instead of the XT model’s three. Although both are rated at 340W, it’s interesting to note that the RX 9070 generally consumes less power. The setup with two 8-pin connectors combined with the PCI-E x16 slot adequately delivers 340W but doesn’t leave much headroom for the same level of overclocking as its XT counterpart.
Shifting attention to the Nitro series, both non-OC and OC versions are available for the RX 9070 line. The Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC sports a triple-fan cooling mechanism as well and achieves a similar boost clock, measuring out at 2.5 slots in height with the same length as its BiFrost sibling. It requires three 8-pin power connectors and sustains a TDP of 340W. The standard Nitro RX 9070 XT, while slightly toned down with a 304W rating, features all three connectors and supports boost speeds of up to 2970 MHz, while gaming mode sees it tick at 2.4 GHz.
For the next duo in the lineup, the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and RX 9070 16 GB editions push forward with maximum clock speeds of 2.7 GHz and 2.52 GHz, respectively. The OC variant carries a 245W rating, whereas the standard model sits at 220W, both mirroring each other’s aesthetic.
While Acer hasn’t laid out the pricing road map for every single GPU in this collection, they have committed to the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB at a significant $829.99. It’s safe to project the BiFrost edition will command an even higher price. As for availability, there’s still some waiting to do, but people in the United States can expect the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC to hit the shelves come April.
