Okay, so last year, Sightful kinda just blew our minds, then pulled the plug on this crazy laptop-with-AR-glasses-thing. They switched gears, turning their AR workspace vibe into software for Windows. But now, ta-da! Spacetop for Windows is here. And get this, it transforms your usual, boring workspace into a private virtual wonderland. Productivity anywhere? Yes, please!
Now, Spacetop, unlike its hardware days, hooks you up with XREAL AR glasses. It’s gone all subscription-based and aims at a broader lineup of AI PCs—from the Dells and HPs of the world to Lenovo, Asus, Acer, and Microsoft. Used to be, Sightful was all about their own fancy ‘headless’ laptop, running some Android-based thing called SpaceOS. They announced in October 2024—yep, really specific—that they’d be canceling the Spacetop G1 AR workspace. Refunded everyone too, thankfully, ‘cause it was priced around a whopping $1,900.
Sightful had a whole explanation involving these neural processing units, aka NPUs, about how they elevate processing power and battery life—especially critical when juggling those AR applications. Not sure if everyone was following, but sounded impressive.
And oh, there’s a picture too. It’s from Sightful, I guess. Imagine a laptop-bed kind of scenario, if that makes any sense. Eyes wide here.
So, the Spacetop Bundle appears on the scene at $899. What do you get? XREAL Air 2 Ultra AR glasses (normally $699) and a year of Spacetop subscription—which you have to renew annually for $200. Need glasses? They offer optical lenses, or better yet, prescription single-vision lens inserts at $50 and progressive-vision ones for $150.
They’ve got their recommended lineup for laptops: Dell XPS Core Ultra 7 (32GB), HP Elitebook, Lenovo Yoga Slim, ASUS Zenbook, Acer Swift Go 14, and the ultra-snazzy Microsoft Surface Pro for Business. This isn’t even the full list, mind you. More devices with Intel Core Ultra 7/9 processors and Meteor Lake architecture (or newer tech) keep popping up.
Oh, gotta mention these standout features: seamless app access for Windows productivity—so essential, right? Push, slide, rotate—your workspace, that is. Such intuitive keystrokes! Travel mode is a lifesaver; your workspace goes wherever you go. Planes, trains, coffee fixes, Uber rides, or even your couch. The display? Bright, clear, adjusts to lighting—perfect indoors or out. A natural OS vibe yet spatial computing magic, massive 100” display, ergonomic benefits to save your neck from strain—all-day comfort with feather-light glasses (83g).
Backing this spectacle with over $61M in funding, Sightful emerged back in 2020 thanks to veterans from PrimeSense, Magic Leap, and Broadcom. They’re operating from Tel Aviv, with offices also in Palo Alto, New York, and Taiwan. Curious cats can dig deeper into Spacetop for Windows. The rabbit hole awaits.
