nDreams Unveils Next-Level VR Immersion in ‘Reach’

Man, so here’s the thing: nDreams, the folks behind, like, a bunch of VR stuff, are gearing up to drop something pretty wild soon. Their new squad, nDreams Elevation—sounds fancy, right?—is behind this game called Reach. They’re teasing it as their most immersive ride yet. I watched this behind-the-scenes thing, and honestly, it kinda blew my mind.

So, Reach. They let the cat out of the bag last week. I watched some initial gameplay clips and, bam—it’s like parkour meets combat wrapped in VR vibes. Not sure how they pull it all off, but there’s this cinematic feel, y’know? Lots of running and jumping around like in those action movies.

During this VR Developer Direct, which I almost forgot to mention, Matt Duff—he’s from the design team—talks about these three pillars. Sounds all official: action, adventure, and presence. Yeah, they’re sticking to “VR first.” Apparently, they’ve changed how you move in a VR game. They’ve got you reaching and pulling through spaces. Picture yourself in the game, actually moving. Crazy, right?

Hold up, there’s a picture I should talk about here. Or maybe, let’s come back to that. Anyway, jumping’s a big deal here too. They’ve got this gesture thing going on. It feels like you’re actually leaping. Weird how your brain gets tricked.

And, oh, player agency. If something looks climbable or grabbable—you get the idea—you can go for it. They’re hyping this Full-body Awareness system (FBA—I think that’s what they called it). No more just floating hands. It’s a full-on body now, moving in ways that are supposed to feel true to life. Pretty neat, in theory.

Combat’s got a spotlight too. They mix high action and stealth, so you can pick your style. There’s this bow with different kinds of arrows—explosive, freeze, stun. Sounds like fun, but also kinda dangerous, right? Stealthily knocking out bad guys like a pro? Yes, please.

The whole thing’s hitting big VR platforms later this year. Until then, you can wishlist it on various stores—Horizon Store, PlayStation Store, and Steam. Worth keeping an eye on, if you ask me.
