Elden Ring Nightreign just dropped one of those updates we’ve all been waiting for. So, it was delayed by a day thanks to a tsunami warning in Japan – which, honestly, is a pretty wild reason to postpone, but hey, safety first. Anyway, FromSoftware rolled out patch 1.02 not too long ago, and it’s hitting every platform.
They had to take the servers offline for like an hour for maintenance – which feels like forever when you’re itching to play, doesn’t it?
So, they’ve added Duo Expeditions, which is like two-player co-op. Fancy way of saying “grab a buddy and let’s go,” right? Originally, Nightreign was supposed to be for three players, but they’ve made it more solo-friendly over time. Now you can roam around with one other friend, and the game magically adjusts everything for two players.
They also changed up the UI. Instead of saying “Expedition Type,” it now shows “Number of Players,” which is, um, smart? I guess.
The Relic Effect filter screen now lets you get all nitty-gritty with your relics. Multiple effects for a single condition – kind of losing my mind here, but it means you can have up to 100 relic presets now. Oh, and you can sell or favorite them straight from the Rewards menu. Why it took this long, beats me.
There’s a photo in the article of, well, something. Couldn’t tell you what, but hey, pictures.
In terms of quality of life improvements, now you can see the presets for your character right up front. Makes life a tad easier? Maybe.
They’ve added tabs to things like the Small Jar Bazaar and Collector Signboard, so no more endless scrolling – thank the gaming gods for that. Oh, and you can skip part of the Nightlord cutscene after beating that boss, which is great because who wants to watch that more than once?
If you’re into cycles, the second Everdark Sovereign cycle has kicked off – starting with Augur, no less. No idea what that means for you, but it sounds dramatic.
And then, bug fixes. Man, there are so many. From little things like visibility issues with Ironeye’s Character Skill to big, crash-inducing messes. The game seemed like a minefield of bugs before this patch. Fixed some enemies walking out of the battle area like they forgot there’s a fight going on. Oh, and your character getting stuck in terrain – we’ve all been there, haven’t we?
And some of those other fixes they listed are just eyebrow-raising. “Rock Blaster” not using any FPs? Seems like an oversight. Players moving during animations? That sounds chaotic.
Various crashes, sound effects not playing, text fixes – like they just threw a bunch of stuff into this patch.
Other performance tweaks and fixes rounded it all out. If you’ve been wrestling with any of these bugs, hopefully life just got a bit easier for you. But, you know, gaming is chaos sometimes.
