Elden Ring Nightreign fan here—so I got curious, you know? Does character height really mess with how you play? Short answer: kinda, but mostly no. I mean, it’s like a half-cocked theory, really. Taller, shorter—doesn’t shake up the gameplay vibe that much. But there are sneaky little perks if you tweak the height a smidge.
So here we are, May 30, 2025—yep, that’s when Nightreign dropped. Spun off from the oh-so-loved Elden Ring from 2022. Roguelike they said. Anyway, it’s got a bunch of us hooked—3.5 million in just five days. Not too shabby, Steam peeps say it’s around 79 percent approval. So yeah, folks are into it.
Got this tidbit from a YouTuber—Zullie the Witch is onto something. Apparently, Nightreign characters are kind of weirdly sized compared to the OG Elden Ring folks. All the same model, but yada yada scaled from .85 to 1.15. Ran this little science fair project using in-game tools—you’d think height might tweak stuff, but nah, movements are just cosmetic. Jump, climb, run? Height, shmight. No difference.
But wait, there’s a twist—combat’s the joker in the deck. Seriously, it’s got its quirks. Small characters miss fewer hits—no idea why that cracks me up, but it does. Smaller hitbox, maybe dodge an attack or two. Except, how often does that happen? Rare, they say. Smaller size means shorter melee reach, sure, but weapons don’t get shorter with you, so there’s that.
Oh, and Zullie dropped another bombshell. Secret stat thing going on—past level 13, it’s like your growth hits a wall. 1 point per level? Seriously, game?
Anyway, so, here’s to keeping that Elden magic alive, with all its weird height mysteries and level mysteries. Or whatever.
