Whoa, so Google’s got something cooking? Yeah, they might just be about to roll out some new smart glasses at the upcoming Google I/O shindig. Personally, I’m intrigued. It’s like they’re throwing down the gauntlet to Ray-Ban Meta Glasses or something.
In some promo clip (which, honestly, blink and you’ll miss it), this dude Sameer Samat, who’s big in the Android circles, kind of casually sported these glasses. He didn’t blab about them directly but hinted that folks there might catch some rad Android demos. Sneaky, right?
So I went full detective mode—well, more like “I hit pause on YouTube and squinted.” The glasses totally give off those Ray-Ban Wayfarer vibes, but there’s this little camera dot on the left. Maybe for spying, maybe not—just kidding!
And wait—there’s an LED too, right above the cam. I bet it’s there so people know when you’re snapping pics or filming. Or maybe it’s just for show. Who knows?
Now about those glasses’ arms—they’re not just for show. Bulky? Yeah, but probably chock-full of batteries and processors. I’m guessing they’ll run some version of Android XR—whatever that means. Oh, and there’s this tiny slot or button thing near the ear. Audio? Could be, but then again, maybe it’s just a cool design feature.
Meanwhile, Apple’s in the game too—rumor has it they’re crafting their own special processor for smart glasses. Just a little industry gossip for you.
Anyway, I’m all set to catch the event. May 20th, 21st—get it on your calendar! They’ll have keynotes and all that jazz, maybe even dive into Android XR. I’m curious, aren’t you?
Catch the keynote live on the 20th at 10 AM Pacific Time, if you’re down for it. Til then, here’s a sneak peek of what they’re up to.
