SGDQ 2025 just blew my mind. Seriously, they raised something like $2.4 million for charity. Can you even imagine? Speedrunners from all corners of the gaming universe came together and — somehow, don’t ask me how — they pulled off this huge event. It only gets bigger every year. New games, familiar faces, crazy challenges. Like, I caught a few, and wow. My head’s still spinning.
So, this thing (Summer Games Done Quick) aimed to gather funds, right? Over two million bucks for Doctors Without Borders. A worthy cause, if you ask me. Watching these folks complete games at lightning speed while folks tossed cash towards various goals — it’s magic, plain and simple. We saw some legendary games making a splash. And then, some surprises (that I’m still scratching my head over).
One of the runs that got me was for this game called Blue Prince. Ever heard of ‘RadRingtail’? No? Well, you should. Two minutes — that’s how long it took them to steamroll through the thing. And then, a bingo run with a twist! Random objectives and chaos — just my kind of gig.
Oh! And there was this runner named ‘cloiss’ who crushed Balatro in under an hour. Seriously, their handle on the game’s randomness? Made me kinda envious. Meanwhile, AEW Fight Forever had the crowd going nuts. Signs, energy, the whole shebang. Wrestling fan or not, it’s a ride.
Now, if speed is what you crave, the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice showcase is like a heart attack waiting to happen (in the best way, promise). ‘Mitchriz’ took on every mega and mini-boss, without glitches. Impressive doesn’t cover it. My palms were sweaty just watching. So many runs to check out. Seriously, hit up the Games Done Quick YouTube channel. Get lost in it.
By the way, there’s plenty of free Steam games out there worth poking around, plus loads of big PC games on the horizon. Keep an eye out.
