I’m going to try something different. Forgive me if I ramble, get lost in my thoughts, or contradict myself. Here we go.
So, Eevee Grove, the new Pokemon TCG Pocket set, came out… what, two weeks ago? Time flies when you’re, well, not staring at clocks, I guess. Unless there’s something missing from your deck, it might be wise (or maybe not?) to stash your Hourglasses. Why? Because a fresh expansion might drop in July. What’s it going to be? No clue. Maybe Gen 2 or Gen 3 will finally make a grand entrance. They’ve kinda been ghosts in the TCG Pocket for a while, huh? I’m hoping they spice things up, like, y’know, finally give some love to those Fighting cards. They’ve been kinda meh since Triumphant Light. Seriously, give us some muscle!
Alright, so, clarification time—I didn’t say Fighting decks are awful. Nah, they’re just… predictable. Sure, you’ve got the Space-Time Smackdown and Triumphant Light decks, but they feel like reruns of that same old sitcom you half-watch while scrolling on your phone. Lucario Ex had a moment—blink and you’d miss it. And then there was Passimian Ex and Lycanroc Ex—they tried, right? But the spotlight? It’s still on Rampardos and Garchomp Ex. Oldies but goodies or just oldies? You tell me.
Speaking of, that Rampardos card set a crazy high bar, didn’t it? It’s from Space-Time Smackdown—maybe the name says it all? Anyway, it’s like one of those legends you swap stories about around the campfire. Dude has 150 HP without being an Ex, and 130 damage for a single Fighting Energy. That’s bonkers, right? Sure, the payout includes some recoil, but 50 damage doesn’t phase it much if it’s knocking out critters left and right.
Anyway—backtracking a bit—why is it so popular? Well, the Rare Candy from Celestial Guardians pretty much makes playing Rampardos on turn two feasible. Forgive me if I sound like a broken record, but pairing it with Silvally just feels perfect. Toss in Extradimensional Crisis, and the combo’s still alive and kicking. Officially a half-Fighting deck, maybe?
But, oh, boosters! They’re like those old treasure chests from pirate tales. Full of promise and maybe heartbreak. Cracking open Space-Time Smackdown packs feels like reaching into a grab bag, hoping to score that Rampardos. That’s where the magic’s at currently. Yet, it can’t be the king forever, right?
Oh, I almost forgot Garchomp Ex. Second to Rampardos, this one and its infamous Triumphant Light origins haven’t exactly faded. It has 170 HP and some neat tricks up its sleeve—Linear Attack, Dragon Claw. Sounds like a dance, doesn’t it? Pairing it with Rampardos makes for a pretty solid Fighting team. But remember, both are Stage 2, so support like Lillie for healing or Cyrus for strategic hits keeps things fresh.
OK, this has definitely been a ride, and I’m feeling a bit like Silvally—trying to adapt to whatever’s thrown at me. Update or not, here’s hoping the next set brings new waves. Or maybe it doesn’t. Who knows?
