Alright, so here’s the deal. There’s a game called Elden Ring Nightreign, and it’s supposed to be played in three-player squads. I mean, that’s what they’re telling us. But, interestingly, if you’re a lone wolf—or just, you know, like playing solo—that’s totally doable. Whether it’s fun or just a lonely slog? Well, your guess is as good as mine right now.
Now, here’s the kicker. If you’re thinking, “Hey, two-player mode sounds perfect!”—uh, sorry, no dice. At least, not when it launches next week. Kinda odd, right? Anyway, Junya Ishizaki, the big boss over there, mentioned to IGN that they might, maybe, sort of think about adding it later on. It’s like they just kinda forgot about it during development. Whoops.
Ishizaki even had a little “Oops, my bad” moment, basically saying, “Yeah, we kinda didn’t think about duos at first.” He did explain they focused heavy-duty on making this thing rock for trios—which is, you know, core and all that jazz. But solo players weren’t totally left hanging. Ishizaki gets it. Sometimes you just wanna sword-swing on your own.
Funny enough, though, while they were dreaming up these solo experiences, the whole duos idea was like that one sock you lose in the wash. But the good news is, they’re paying attention now. Maybe they’ll stitch it in later.
Oh, and typical FromSoftware style—they’re always tuning things up post-launch. So keep your fingers crossed if you’re waiting to buddy up sans third wheel. Just maybe there’s hope on the horizon. Keep lurking around for updates. Who knows when they’ll drop that duo surprise?
